Honest Comparison: Original Version vs. Pre-GLUE Version

The kit includes five lengths of large lashes—8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, and 16mm—with 20 lashes of each length.
As someone who has been using DIY lash extensions for a while, I tried the newly released Pre-Glue DIY Lash Extensions and compared them directly with the previous version. In this review, I will go over the differences in shipping, comfort, retention, natural look, and ease of application.
1. Shipping and First Impressions of the Pre-Glue DIY Extension Kit.
Shipping Speed
Just like the previous version, the Pre-Glue DIY Lash Extensions arrived very quickly.
Packaging and First Look
- Original version: Simple and practical packaging
- Pre-Glue version: Clean white case with a more luxurious, premium feel
I tried the new version right after it was released, and from the moment I opened the package, it clearly felt like a premium line.

The instructions are printed on the back of the product box, and for maximum effect and long-lasting wear, make sure to read them carefully before use.
2. Band and Glue Differences
Pre-Glued Band Features (New Version)
- The lash band already has glue applied
- When removing lashes from the tray, if the tweezers touch the glue
👉The glue can stretch or clump, so extra care is needed
Glue Application Comparison
- Original version: Mascara-type glue must be applied directly to natural lashes
- Pre-glue version: No glue application step needed
👉 Not having to apply glue separately makes the process much more convenient.
3. Retention Comparison (Biggest Difference)
Original Version Retention
- Lashes usually fall off naturally during cleansing or showering after a few days
- The remaining glue can be removed fairly easily with a remover
- Personally, they lasted up to about 4 days (although advertised as 7–10 days)
Pre-Glue Version Retention
- Clearly lasts much longer
- Over time, the glue becomes sticky
- The band can look shiny and slightly darker
- When blinking, it sometimes feels like the glue slightly sticks
- Instead of falling off naturally, I usually remove them myself when I feel it is time to change them
👉 In terms of retention alone, the Pre Glue version is much better.

After use, the Pre-Glue lashes show that the clear glue has become cloudy, and sticky residue can be seen around the band.
4. Comfort and Adjustment Period
- With the pre-glue version, there is an adjustment period of a few hours
- The band feels thicker and a bit bold at first, causing slight discomfort
- Comfort improves noticeably over time
In comparison, the original version feels comfortable almost immediately after application.
5. Design and Natural Look
Original Version Design
- All lash segments are similar in length – I used “Classic” lash style
- Even with one segment, the look feels more artificial
Pre-Glue Version Design
- Only the centre segments are longer, with shorter sides – “Wispy” style
- Creates a much more natural lash look
- At first, the short sides and longer centre felt a bit unusual, but after 2–3 uses, it felt completely natural
✔ For natural daily makeup: Pre-Glue version
✔ For bold, dense volume: Original version

For a comparison of length and shape, the top left shows Pre-Glue 8mm (Wispy), the top right shows DIY Kit (Classic) 8mm, the bottom left shows Pre-Glue 14mm (Wispy), and the bottom right shows the DIY Kit (Classic) 14mm that I used previously.
The lashes from the original DIY kit are mostly the same length, while the Pre-Glue lashes are uneven, with the middle lashes longer than the sides. In addition, the band of the pre-glue lashes is noticeably thicker and heavier than that of the regular DIY kit.
6. Length Options and Mixing Tips
→ I used shorter lashes on the outer corners and longer ones in the centre
With the pre-glue version
- 8mm lashes are barely noticeable
- I personally prefer natural-looking lashes, but even 16mm, which felt too much before, works well when mixed in one piece at a time
👉 The Pre Glue version allows more flexible length mixing.
7. Lash Quality, Damage Risk, and Reuse
Lash Fibre Quality
- The Pre-Glue version has soft, luxurious fibres
- Looks less artificial when worn
Natural Lash Damage
- The original version requires glue on natural lashes -> higher risk of damage
- Pre-glue version skips this step, so it feels less damaging overall
- However, strong glue residue left after removal can still potentially damage natural lashes
Reusability
Pre-Glue version:
- Glue becomes sticky and loses adhesion
- Reuse is almost impossible
Original version:
- Can be reused with careful maintenance – Marketed as reusable
- However, after one use, unless managed very carefully, the difference compared to new lashes is noticeable and lash density decreases
👉 If reusability and cost-effectiveness matter, the original version is better.
8. Ease of Application: Pre-Glued DIY Lash Extensions vs Original Version
Original Version
- Glue must be applied to all lashes and worked with quickly
- Once placed, adjusting the angle or fixing the position is difficult
- Retention feels weaker if natural lashes are sparse
Pre Glue Version
- No need to rush during the application
- The thick centre band provides strong and stable fixation
- Easy to correct small mistakes or adjust angles
- Works well regardless of whether natural lashes are thick or sparse
Pre-Glued DIY Lash Extensions vs Original Lash Ease Version
| Category | Original Version | Pre-Glued Version |
|---|---|---|
| Band Thickness | Thin | Thick |
| Glue Needed | Yes | No |
| Retention | Falls off naturally | Long-lasting |
| Natural Look | Uniform length | Longer centre |
| Comfort | Comfortable immediately | Needs adjustment |
| Reuse | Possible with care | Almost impossible |
| Stability | Hard to fix | Stable |
Final Review and Recommendation
If you naturally have a lot of lashes, the original version that attaches directly to your natural lashes can still be a good option. However, in my case, whether because my natural lashes are sparse or simply due to lack of skill, the original version did not last long. I personally expect to stick with the Pre-Glue version, which looks more natural and lasts much longer.
