* 2026 Update (Originally Published: Dec 2025): Following my blog migration to this new WordPress site, I’ve updated this post with the latest 2026 seasonal opening schedule for the Bredbo Christmas Barn and current information for the Bredbo Pie Shop.
A Quick Stop on the Way to Cooma

Bredbo Christmas Barn entrance
On our way to Cooma, my husband mentioned that there’s a Christmas shop that only opens for half of the year. I’m not someone who’s really into Christmas decorations (and probably won’t be in the future), but I got out of the car thinking it would be a good chance to stretch a bit and look around.
You park outside the fence, walk past a sleepy Santa, and the entrance is not the building at the front but the one at the back. On the front door, there’s a funny sign saying: “Your husband rang, he said, buy everything you want.”

A Surprising “Wow” Moment at the Entrance
The moment I opened the door, I was honestly shocked. Even though I’ve always thought I had zero childlike excitement left for Christmas, the scale of this place made me say “wow” out loud. It’s full of sparkling decorations, and the size of the shop feels like a mini Christmas exhibition.
There were quite a few people, but it didn’t feel crowded or uncomfortable. The layout makes it easy to browse comfortably.
Beautiful Theme-Based Christmas Displays
Inside the shop, everything is organised by theme and colour, so it’s really fun to walk around.
- Various Christmas ornaments
- Christmas trees and wreaths
- Santa’s in different colours and themes
- Deer, polar bears, and other winter animals
- Vintage-style decorations
- Frozen-style white theme
- Shiny gold theme section
- Gingerbread & candy shop themed decorations
Even for someone who normally doesn’t care about Christmas decorations, this place brings back a sudden childlike excitement. If you have kids, they’ll absolutely love it. More than just a shop, the aesthetic layout of each theme makes every photo look like a piece from a perfectly arranged gallery.

Bredbo Christmas Barn is not open all year. It typically operates for approximately six months, primarily from June to December.
- Opening for the 2025 season: Saturday 31st May – Monday 22nd December
- Open: Thursday–Monday, 10 AM–4 PM

Since their Facebook page is updated regularly, it’s best to check the official Facebook page for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Delivery & Pickup Information
It seems like the shop is mainly offline and doesn’t run a detailed online store or shipping service. So if you are planning to buy a big item or purchase many items, it’s a good idea to contact them by phone or email in advance to check any information related to the delivery service.
Useful Tip for Canberra Visitors
Visiting Bredbo Christmas Barn isn’t just simple shopping — it’s more like a day out + short break + Christmas mood experience.
Every year, the Christmas lights list is published on ChristmasLightSearch (run by Red Reindeer Media). It shows all the houses in Canberra with outdoor Christmas light displays. People who really love Christmas decorating often check this site to get ideas for their own decorations. Doing a nighttime light tour is also a fun holiday tradition.
If you’re looking for another festive spot closer to the city, check out my visit to Gold Creek Village. It has a charming Christmas shop and a great cafe serving unique Ube jam!
Nearby Stop — The Bredbo Pie Shop
Just 1–2 minutes by car from the Christmas Barn is the Bredbo Pie Shop, which seems quite popular in the area. There are outdoor tables too, so it’s a nice place to rest. We arrived a bit late, so only a few options were left.
- My husband got the Chunky Beef Pie
- I tried the mushroom & Baby Spanich Quiche
I don’t usually enjoy pies because of the heavy feeling afterwards, but the quiche was surprisingly nice. The outside had a croissant-like crisp texture, and the inside was soft with cheese, sliced mushrooms and spinach mixed really well, giving it a savoury and satisfying flavour. If you are already visiting the Christmas Barn, it’s worth stopping by the pie shop too.

Empty shelves during late visit – Offerings include Crunchy Beef, Beef Bacon & Cheese, Beef & Mushroom, Curry Steak, Spinach & Feta, Sausage Roll. They don’t have a huge selection, but they do offer a few options like tarts, muffins, and other desserts.

Chunky Beef pie cross-section – Moist beef filling inside a soft, tender pie crust.

Spinach & Mushroom quiche cross-section – Soft, savoury, and cheesy filling inside a flaky crust.
Bredbo Christmas Barn Review: Final Thoughts
Even if you are not really into Christmas decorations, Bredbo Christmas Barn still gives a kind of childlike excitement. Everyone inside seemed happy — kids, adults, couples, families. It’s a nice place for a short day trip, especially if you are coming from Canberra.

Reflecting on the Bredbo Pie Shop
While migrating my blog, I found myself thinking back to the Mushroom & Baby Spinach Quiche I had during that trip. To be honest, it was my first time ever trying a quiche, so I don’t have a point of comparison, but it was a taste I’d definitely want to try again if I’m passing through the area.

I wasn’t planning to buy any Christmas decorations since I don’t really decorate, but as a Harry Potter fan, I couldn’t walk past the Harry Potter item, so I ended up buying a badge.
